AI:
How to keep up with ChatGPT.
Some leading AI experts think that LLM chatbots like ChatGPT will lead to the end of civilization. They argue that development should, at the very least, be paused.
Advanced AI could represent a profound change in the history of life on Earth and should be planned for and managed with commensurate care and resources.
Others say it would be a mistake to stop and want to continue full tilt.
According to Bill Gates:
The development of AI is as fundamental as the creation of the microprocessor, the personal computer, the Internet, and the mobile phone. It will change the way people work, learn, travel, get health care, and communicate with each other. Entire industries will reorient around it. Businesses will distinguish themselves by how well they use it.
The truth is, whether further development is paused or not, there’s simply no going back to a world without ChatAI.
So, what does that mean for you and me?
We can’t just sit around waiting for the powers that be to decide our fate. We’d better get up to speed.
I wrote a Twitter thread on how to adapt to ChatGPT world. It’s linked below.

11 Tips to Take Your ChatGPT Prompts to the Next Level.
CHATGPT AND TOOLS like it have made AI available to the masses. We can now get all sorts of responses back on almost any topic imaginable. These bots can come up with sonnets, code, philosophy, and more.
However, while you can just type anything you like into ChatGPT and get it to understand you, there are ways of getting more interesting and useful results out of the bot. This “prompt engineering” is becoming a specialized skill of its own.
Here are 11 tips to improve your prompts:

Privacy is a massive problem in AI.
Everything you type into ChatGPT, BingChat, and Bard is recorded. We should not be surprised. We’ve seen all this before. Big AI is Big Tech, just worse. Now they don’t just collect and own all your data, content, ideas, and creativity, they eat it up and spit it out to the world.
In just under a month, there were three recorded incidences of Samsung employees leaking sensitive information via ChatGPT. Since ChatGPT retains user input data to further train itself, these trade secrets from Samsung are now effectively in the hands of OpenAI, the company behind the AI service.

Meanwhile, in Italy:
The Italian Data Protection Authority said Friday that ChatGPT was violating the European Union’s strict General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in multiple ways, ranging from the fact that it sometimes spews out incorrect information about people, to OpenAI’s failure to tell people what it’s doing with their personal data.
Until it can satisfy the privacy regulator that it has brought its practices into compliance with the GDPR, OpenAI has to stop processing the personal data of people in Italy, which means the authority wants it to stop serving users there. Under European law, personal data means any data that can be connected with an identifiable individual.

Other European nations may follow suit.
Privacy regulators in France and Ireland have reached out to counterparts in Italy to find out more about the basis of the ban. Germany could follow in Italy's footsteps by blocking ChatGPT over data security concerns, the German commissioner for data protection told the Handelsblatt newspaper.

Will ChatGPT make income & wealth inequality worse?
Venture capitalists and other investors are pouring billions into companies based on generative AI, and the list of apps and services driven by large language models is growing longer every day.
BUT
Will ChatGPT make the already troubling income and wealth inequality in the US and many other countries even worse? Or could it help? Could it in fact provide a much-needed boost to productivity?

Web3:
Zero-Knowledge and the Next Digital Revolution.
Zero-knowledge proof is a technique that allows one party to prove to another party that they know a particular piece of information, without revealing that information itself. In other words, it enables secure verification of a statement without disclosing any details about the statement being verified.
We can expect a wave of new ZK protocols and apps in 2023. If you want to stay abreast of developments in web3, you need to understand ZK.
In this Stanford Online seminar by Alex Pruden, you will learn what ZK is, how it developed, use cases, & how it is transforming privacy.
NFT mint waves.
NFTs are a powerful tool for fundraising, marketing, and building your community. How you structure the mint process is key.
A16zcrypto’s Scott Kominers wrote a must-read article for anyone planning an NFT project:
A new NFT launch strategy: The wave mint
In an NFT project, the mint – the process by which tokens are initially allocated – largely determines who your community is and how they and the broader market view the project going forward. You are who you keep company with – which means you need a mechanism that draws participation from the people you want, and to execute it in a way that is easy, secure, and engaging.
Wave Mint is a new minting strategy for NFT projects that invites members from different communities in a series of waves, starting with closely related communities and expanding outwards.
The method aims to draw participation from people with shared interests and values, building a strong core community and establishing social proof.
The Wave Mint mechanism offers advantages over traditional allow-lists, such as improved user engagement, better supply and demand management, and a more positive experience for participants.

The Bitcoin whitepaper is hidden on Macs since 2018.
On every Mac operating system post 2018, a nine-page PDF is hidden inside a nest of folders. That PDF is none other than the Bitcoin white paper, the famed theoretical outline of the cryptocurrency authored by Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin’s anonymous inventor.
On Wednesday, Andy Baio, former CTO of Kickstarter, was the first to publicly announce that he had found the squirreled-away PDF after he tried to connect a combination printer-scanner to his MacBook.
